I was destined to become a dietitian. Before I was old enough to do much reading, the human body book was one of my favorites. When we were young, my sisters and I would read the nutrition facts and compete to see who had the healthiest breakfast cereal. During the summers I would work in my mom's herb garden and we would make salves and tinctures. In 2008, I started my first job as a dietitian working at a dialysis clinic. At first, I was certain that I was going to accidentally teach someone the wrong thing about potassium and it would be my fault when they had a heart attack. But eventually I became more confident and have come to love renal nutrition.When I'm not elbow deep in nutrition journal articles, patient education or assessments, I enjoy reading (Jane Austen or other historical fiction mostly. Although I am a devoted Harry Potter fan as well), playing piano, and spending time with my husband Dave.
