This product includes the following handouts:

  • Prediabetes – A handout explaining what prediabetes is, brief descriptions of the purpose of Hemoglobin A1C and fasting blood glucose tests in diabetes screening, and common nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for improving prediabetes and preventing health complications.
  • What Is Diabetes? – A companion handout to “Prediabetes” providing a basic explanation of what diabetes is, the most common types of diabetes, the function of glucose, the pancreas, and insulin in the body, and common symptoms of diabetes. This handout can be used independently or combined with other educational materials.
  • High Blood Pressure – A handout providing a basic explanation of what blood pressure is, the criteria for high blood pressure, common causes of high blood pressure, symptoms, and common nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for improving blood pressure.
  • Low Blood Pressure – A handout providing a basic explanation of what blood pressure is, the criteria for low blood pressure, common causes of low blood pressure, symptoms, and common nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for improving blood pressure.

These handouts do not include weight loss recommendations for hypertension or prediabetes in adolescent clients. If you are looking for weight loss guidelines to use in your practice, this product may not be for you. 

Handouts feature teen-friendly, gender-neutral, and weight-neutral language and offer age-appropriate explanations and examples throughout.
