This handout lists different types of foods that are rich in iron. This would especially be helpful for clients who are low in iron or for vegetarian and vegan clients looking to increase their iron intake through food.

The handout includes:

  • 20 food sources high in iron (13 vegan options)
  • 20 food sources with moderate amounts of iron (14 vegetarian options)
  • 12 foods high in vitamin C (to pair with iron-rich sources)

This 3-page resource is very easy to read, includes lots of pictures, minimal in words, and is aesthetically pleasing. There are minimal words and pictures for every food making it a great resource for folks with low literacy (such as people with intellectual / developmental disabilities or autism) and kids.
