Learning to eat new foods is a challenge for people who experience sensory disorders. Many have been labeled “picky eaters” and have given up.  This journal was originally designed for people who experience Down syndrome and related disorders as a way to take charge of their menus.

Using My Tasting Journal can help people discover:

  • Ways to describe food
  • Sensory trends (I like “crunch” in my food best)
  • A resource to develop a balanced menu
  • A method of communicating food preferences

The journal provides an easy way to journal and share experiences with new foods. Here’s what can be learned:

  • Group new foods by food group
  • Food group pages are color-coded to match My Plate Guide
  • Two templates to include varying writing skills
  • Tips for accommodating for all learners
  • Promotes self-determination
  • Promotes a person-centered approach to wellness

Use the tool in sessions or workshops to create food scientists who are ready to try all sorts of foods!
