Considering making the move to sports nutrition?
- Have you been asked to “present at a school” but want to turn the opportunity into a sports nutrition program?
- Are you curious about how funding works?
- How to jump into a University and convince them to hire you as their first sports dietitian?
- How to create a program?
- Have you just been hired as the first dietitian at your school and are operating on your own without support?
- How to achieve support from your administration?
- How to show the “need” for snack options, recovery options, smoothies?
This is your guide.
In 2019, as a young dietitian eager to work in Sports Nutrition- I had SO many questions and hardly any guidance. I started working part time at a University with only the football team. Just a short year later, I was hired full time, acquired money from my University and given full access to all Sports teams. I was able to convert a “PBJ hallway” into a fueling station and help bring a team that was 5 and 6 to winning a National Title with the full nutrition support.
This plan works so well if you follow all the steps that I am now developing the first Minor League Baseball program within my new organization, utilizing the same principles.
*Quick tip- of you are the FIRST dietitian, or trying to be, share this toolkit/guide with the Strength coaches and Athletic trainer at your school so they too can advocate for you- the wording on this guide is meant for their assistance in advocating for an RDN!
