Product Overview
Meal Plan Builder turns a client’s calorie and macro targets into a complete, itemized meal plan, and then hands you a page you can actually send home. It covers the whole path from calculating a target to handing over a finished plan, in one linked Excel workbook built for the dietitian who is tired of rebuilding the same spreadsheet for every new client.
Key Features
Start wherever you are with a client. If you need a calorie target, the first tab estimates daily needs using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, or Katch-McArdle if you have a body fat percentage from an InBody or similar device. Already have the number? Skip straight to entering the client’s target and macro split, and the workbook calculates daily protein, carbohydrate, and fat in grams and splits them across up to five meals.
The food list includes 85 common foods, each with calories and macros per standard serving, color-coded by macronutrient. It’s a working starter set rather than a full food composition database, and it’s built to be changed: add your own foods up to 200 rows, delete the ones you never use, correct a value against a label, and the dropdowns throughout the builder update automatically. In the meal builder itself, pick a food and enter servings; calories and macros calculate per item while a totals table compares every meal, and the full day, against the client’s target.
The last tab is a clean, client-ready summary that fills in automatically from the plan, with a placeholder at the top for your practice name or logo.
Benefits
No more rebuilding meal plans from scratch for every client, and no more handing over a plan built in a format only you can read. The calculations update live as you adjust foods and servings, so you can fine-tune a plan in session rather than redoing the math by hand afterward. Food values are referenced against USDA FoodData Central, and the workbook states plainly that real products vary by brand, since this is a tool to support meal planning, not a replacement for clinical judgment with a specific client.
What’s Included
An instructions sheet plus five working tabs: calorie estimation, client profile and macro split, an 85-food editable database with room for 200, the meal builder with live totals against target, and a client-ready summary page. Excel .xlsx, works in Excel and Google Sheets.
Suggested Uses
Use it in an initial consult to build a first plan on the spot, or between sessions to adjust an existing plan as a client’s targets change. The summary tab is built to print or email directly to the client once you’re happy with it, and the editable food list means it can grow into whatever database fits your own practice over time.
