Babies can feed themselves!

Have you heard about “baby-led weaning?” The term is used to describe a method of introducing solids to infants without relying on spoons, purees, or pouches (these items can still be used, they just aren’t required).

Baby-led weaning is what we did before baby food was invented. Babies can join their families at the table from the start! As easy as it sounds, starting solids can seem overwhelming. Offer your clients this “how-to” guide to keep things easy!

Help your clients

  • honor kiddos’ hunger and fullness cues
  • avoid short-order cooking
  • explore new foods with their family
  • avoid picky eating
  • make mealtimes fun!

How to use this guide:

The timeline listed is merely a suggestion that was added after many requests. But don’t get caught up in the numbers or get stuck on step one! Please encourage your clients to watch their babies and follow their cues (grabbing food and putting food in their own mouths is a great sign of readiness). Step one may start late or last only a few days…every baby is different. Please feel free to reach out to me for more information!
