Often times it is difficult to persuade an individual with dementia to eat or to show any interest in food. They become easily distracted, grow tired of the foods that they did seem to like and may have even started having difficulties using utensils to eat. Have you found yourself thinking the following?
- I’ve exhausted my resources…..what can I try now?
- How can I help my patient/loved one to still be able to feed themselves when they are unable to hold utensils?
- I’m running out of ideas for finger food options and my patient/loved one is quickly losing interest in what is being offered.
